1. Pre-Installation Communication
Before we arrive, a HandyDesert representative will contact you to:
- Confirm your delivery and installation appointment window.
- Review any special circumstances regarding access (e.g., tight hallways, stairs).
- Verify that your kitchen has a standard 110V grounded outlet and a water line nearby (required for the ice maker and water dispenser).
We also recommend that you:
- Clear a path from the entry door to the installation site.
- Empty your old refrigerator before our team arrives.
- Measure doorways to ensure the appliance can pass through.
(This model is 32.75" wide, 70" tall with hinges, and 35.5" deep with handles.)
2. Safe Delivery and Unpacking
Upon arrival, our team will:
- Unload the refrigerator from the delivery vehicle with care.
- Inspect the appliance for any visible damage.
- Unpack and remove all protective film, tape, and internal packing materials.
- Move the appliance safely into your home using non-marring tools and pads.
3. Site Preparation
Our installers will:
- Confirm that the area is level and free of obstructions.
- Check for proper clearance: LG recommends 1/8" on each side and 2" at the back for airflow.
- Inspect the flooring to ensure it supports the refrigerator’s weight (~300 lbs).
If needed, our team will:
- Gently remove doors from the refrigerator to fit through narrow spaces, then reattach and calibrate them.

4. Electrical and Water Hookup
Your refrigerator will be:
- Plugged into a grounded, dedicated 15–20 amp outlet.

5. Leveling and Calibration
To ensure proper door alignment and compressor function, we will:
- Adjust front leveling legs and rear rollers to keep the unit perfectly level.
- Align French doors and the freezer drawer for smooth operation.
- Verify that doors automatically close at ~20° and that door seals are airtight.
6. Initial Power-Up and System Check
Once installed, our team will:
- Power on the unit and check that the Smart Inverter Compressor engages.
- Set the refrigerator to 37°F and the freezer to 0°F, LG’s recommended temps.
- Walk you through the control panel and SmartDiagnosis™ features.
- Assist with Wi-Fi connection and LG ThinQ® app pairing (optional).
7. Final Walkthrough and Clean-Up
Before leaving, we will:
- Demonstrate all features: water/ice dispenser, door-in-door storage, Energy Saver mode.
- Answer any questions you may have.
- Remove all packing debris and clean the workspace.
- Provide instructions for first 24 hours: avoid loading food until the internal temperature stabilizes.
